EAI – boink
This game follows the same
rules as Marco Polo, and so needs little explanation to most campers, but it
explores a unique ability of dolphins and whales to “see” in dark, deep water
without using their eyes.
Choose one person to be a
dolphin, and instruct this person to close their eyes. Demonstrate the high-pitched squeal (the
higher and more obnoxious, the better) which this person should make for the
rest of the game. The other campers
recognize fish, which the dolphin will try to tag and eat. Explain that when the dolphin squeals facing
one of the fish, the fish must answer back, “Boink.” Because fish must always be ready to answer
the dolphin, they are not allowed to swim under water. Start the game by allowing five seconds when
the dolphin is under water for the fish to scatter throughout the pool. The game continues until a dolphin captures a
fish, in which case the fish becomes the new dolphin.
