Making Christ Known
Hope for the New Century
"Hope for the New Century" is the theme that will permeate the
worship services of this year's Churchwide Assembly. The festival Eucharists and the daily
prayer services will draw from the varied traditions within the Evangelical Lutheran
Church in America.
Throughout the days of the Churchide Assembly--in both the
plenary sessions and the worship services--we will live under this theme as it is
beautifully expressed in the familiar words of the hymn writer, Edward Mote:
My hope is built on nothing less
Than Jesus' blood and righteousness;
No merit of mine own I claim,
But wholly lean on Jesus' name.
On Christ, the solid rock, I stand;
All other ground is sinking sand.
