Guiding the Life of this Church

bulletHearing reports and voting on important issues such as:
bulletToward Sufficient, Sustainable Livelihood for All, a proposed social statement on economic life;
bulletFollowing our Shepherd to Full Communion, recommendations for full communion between the ELCA and the Moravian Church;
bulletCalled to Common Mission: A Lutheran Proposal for a Revision of the Concordat of Agreement, recommendations for full Communion between the ELCA and the Episcopal Church.
bulletHearing reports on the ministry of this church in several areas; including:
bulletProposed social statement on Health Care;
bulletDisabilities ministry and deaf ministry;
bulletWomen and children living in poverty;
bullet2000 Congregations Project;
bulletConversations related to Gay and Lesbian Persons;
bulletJoint Declaration on the Doctrine of Justification;
bulletMinistry in Daily Life;
bulletUrban Strategy;
bulletFinal Report on the Study of Ministry.
bulletHearing and directing appropriate responses to resolutions brought forward by voting members
bulletResponding to reports on the seven Initiatives for a New Century.

According to the constitution of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, the Churchwide Assembly shall "receive and consider proposals from synod assemblies (ELCA 12.21.c). A memorial is understood to mean a resolution adopted by a Synod Assembly that specifically addresses the Churchwide Assembly, requesting that a particular action be taken. The linked files contain the memorials which have been forwarded to the 1999 Churchwide Assembly.
