The Churchwide Assembly is a time for conducting the business of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. Important issues to come for consideration before the 1999 assembly include:

	"Toward a Sufficient, Sustainable Livelihood for All," a proposed social statement on economic life
	"Following Our Shepherd to Full Communion," recommendations for full communion between the ELCA and the Moravian church; and
	"Called to Common Mission: A Lutheran Proposal for a Revision of the Concordat of Agreement," recommendations for full communion between the ELCA and the Episcopal Church.

There will also be reports on the seven "Initiatives to Prepare for a New Century," with special highlights on the "Help the Children" initiative. We will also celebrate the 25th anniversary of the World Hunger Appeal. Watch this homepage in the coming weeks for more specific information on items before the assembly.

Since not everyone can be in Denver, this homepage will serve as a kind of "virtual Denver" which will allow everyone to see the materials voting members will be considering.
