Looking for a great way to start
each day during the 2003 ELCA Churchwide Assembly in Milwaukee?
Want to enhance your life and the lives around you? Have questions
or need assistance regarding ELCA benefits, including retirement
estimates? Please join the ELCA
Board of Pensions (BOP) throughout the Churchwide Assembly for:
Run, walk 'n' roll
Did you know moderate exercise is good for not only your
physical well-being, but it is also a great stress reducer and
health booster? You can run, walk or roll between 5:30 and 7:30 A.M.
August 12-15. If you run, walk or roll on your own throughout the
week, you will receive credit for participating. Simply stop by
the Board of Pensions' picnic table in the Midwest Airlines Center
(near the CWA registration desk) and we will record your
participation.
The check-in point will be at the
intersection of Wisconsin and Prospect avenues (O'Donnell Park
near the Milwaukee Art Museum), and is within walking distance of
the hotels and the Midwest Airlines Center. Go at your own pace
and distance. Simply follow scenic Lincoln Memorial Drive and
enjoy the beautiful parks and beaches along Lake Michigan. The
route is paved and wheelchair accessible.
Water, directions and encouragement
will be provided between 5:30 and 7:30 A.M.
at the check-in point. Look for "Run, walk 'n' roll"
team members wearing "Healthy Leaders Enhance Lives"
T-shirts. (Note: Although the run, walk 'n' roll route will not be
accessible on Saturday, August 16 due to a local running event,
you can participate in the early morning Stretch & Pray, led
by Bishop Finck.)

Stretch & Pray
Join Bishop Murray Finck of the Pacifica Synod from 6:30 to 7:15 A.M.
August 12-16 for low-impact stretching and (high-impact) prayer in
the Wright Ballroom A at the Hilton Hotel.
Bishop Finck will direct
participants as he introduces each new posture, stretch or
exercise. He will also provide direction on some deep breathing
exercises. Your time together will end with six prayer postures -
adoration, confession, absolution, petition, intercession and
contemplation.
We encourage you to wear
comfortable, loose clothing. Also, please bring a towel for the
floor (some of the stretches and prayer postures will be on the
carpeted floor).
