Kwang-Ja Yu - 1st Asian, ALC, 1985
 The Rev. Kwang-Ja Yu, was
the first Asian woman to be ordained by The American Lutheran Church,
January 13, 1985. A graduate of Luther Seminary, St. Paul in 1984, she
served parishes in Dallas, Texas and Chicago, before becoming Director
of Ecumenical and Cross-cultural Programming for Women of the ELCA, 1989
to 1993. Since 1998, she has been pastor of University Lutheran Church
of Hope, Minneapolis.
