Earlean Miller - First African American, LCA, 1979

Earlean Miller, the first African-American woman ordained in the Lutheran Church in America, was ordained on August 26, 1979. Pastor Miller served as pastor of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, Greensboro, North Carolina; associate pastor at Calvary, Minneapolis; St. Paul, Chicago; and Hope Lutheran Church, Columbus, Ohio. She retired from her position with Hope Lutheran Church in December 2000.
