Lutheran Student Movement

Luther League, the Lutheran Student Association of America and now the Lutheran Student Movement-USA, also provided avenues of participation and leadership for many Lutheran women, especially as they attended college. Six students elected to the council of Lutheran Student Movement gathered outside of the chapel at Valparaiso university shortly after their election at the General Assembly of the LSM held in August 1972. Pictured are (from left): Roger Dieterle, a student at North Dakota State University in Fargo; Thalia Cady, a student at Hamma School of Theology in Springfield, Ohio; Wendy Drefke, LSM Council chairperson, a graduate student at California State University in San Francisco; Ken Purcell, a student at Kutztown State College; Gail Hagerty, a student at North Dakota State University; and Philip Rasmussen, a student at Montana State University in Bozeman.
