50th Anniversary of Lutheran
Deaconesses
 The ELCA has also been served by deaconesses
who were trained by the Lutheran Deaconess Association, Valparaiso,
Indiana. In September 1984 several women who were at the time affiliated
with the Association of Evangelical Lutheran Churches, gathered for the
50th anniversary of the Lutheran Deaconess Conference. Left to right

Brege and Paula Hepola; (third row) Jan Janzow, Kathy Pirwitz and Dianna
