Esther Bacon, Missionary in Liberia

Esther Bacon’s work was featured in a 1967 issue of World Encounter. The article quotes the president of the Lutheran Church of Liberia, Roland Payne, “Whatever else is written about Liberia, the story of Esther Bacon must be told.” The Liberian government honored her in 1951, after only 10 years of work, with an award which was usually given to a foreigner only after a lifetime of service.
