Maud Powlas Receives Honors in Japan

Maud O. After retirement Powlas returned to be honored in Japan at the sixtieth anniversary of the colony in 1978. She also received the Fourth Order of the Sacred Treasury from the Emperor of Japan; was featured in a Japanese Lutheran television film in their “Mothers of the World” series; and her autobiography was translated and published in Japanese.
