Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church

Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, at 1430 W. 100th Place, was organized on Nov. 1, 1881 under the name "Die Deutsche Evangelisch Lutherische Dreieinigkeits Gemeinde Ungeanderter Augsburger Confession." It called pastors from the Joint Synod of Ohio, though it did not officially join this body until 1911.

In 1881 the congregation rented a lot on 103rd St., possibly between Vincennes and Elizabeth Streets or at Throop Street, and erected a chapel. In 1884 the congregation purchased a lot at the corner of Oak (now Beverly) Street and 100th Place. The church building and attached parsonage, which had been added in 1883, were moved to the new lot on Jan. 1, 1885.

A new church building (pictured at left) was constructed in 1891.

In 1906 English services were held in the evening of every third Sunday. English use increased until the early 1940s when German services were discontinued.

In the years after World War II the congregation considered relocating, but decided to remain at its present location. With discussion beginning in 1939, the old parish hall, which had been the original church building on 103rd Street, was finally replaced in 1956-57.

Around 2005, Trinity merged into the Lutheran Church of the Holy Spirit, 1335 W. 115th St., at Ada St. The merged congregation continued to meet in two locations until October 2006, when the Ada St. building became the main location.
