![]() Tabor Evangelical Lutheran Church was organized in 1900 as a member of the Augustana Synod to serve the Swedish residents in the Cheltenham neighborhood of Chicago. Purchasing lots on the northwest corner of 80th Street and Edwards Avenue (now Escanaba), the congregation constructed a one-story chapel by August 1899. The congregation was officially organized on February 27, 1900. By 1902 a larger facility was need. The first services in the completed basement were held in April 1904, with rest of the building completed in February 1906.
