| St. Luke's Norwegian Lutheran Church, a member
of the Norwegian Synod, was in 1912. It was located at 5916 Rice St., in Chicago. In 1918 Pastor H.A. Preus and the St. Luke's congregation opted not to participate in the merger forming the Norwegian Lutheran Church of America, instead joining the newly-formed Norwegian Synod of the American Evangelical Lutheran Church, commonly known as the "Little" Norwegian Synod, and currently known as the Evangelical Lutheran Synod. In 1946 St. Luke's was absorbed by St. Mark's Lutheran Church, another congregation in the "Little" Norwegian Synod. Rev. A. Strand continued on as the pastor of St. Mark's until 1977.
