Our Savior's Lutheran Church

  OurSaviorsNS.jpg (16022 bytes)Our Savior's Lutheran Church (or Vor Frelsers norsk evangelisk lutherske menighet), a Norwegian Synod congregation, was organized on January 18, 1858. Its original building (pictured below) was constructed in 1859 at May and Erie Streets. Dedication was held March 27, 1859. On October 5, 1873 a second structure (pictured at left) at that location was dedicated.

In 1888 a faction left Our Savior's to join Bethlehem Lutheran.

In 1925 Our Savior's merged with St. Paul English Lutheran and Bethlehem Lutheran to form United Lutheran. In 1928 United moved to Oak Park, Ill.

The ELCA Archives has microfilm of Our Savior's membership records from 1858-1911 on film #6, and 1858-1927 on film #898. Our Savior's original record books should be located at United Lutheran Church, 409 Greenfield St., Oak Park, IL 60302-1143.
