Edgebrook Evangelical Lutheran Church

Edgebrook Evangelical Lutheran Church, 5252 W. Devon Ave., was organized in 1940 in the Edgebrook neighborhood of Chicago as part of the United Lutheran Church in America.

The first service was held Oct 15, 1939 at Edgebrook School. Services were held at the school and in a storefront at 5416 Devon Ave., until the church building was completed and dedicated on Dec. 12, 1943. The church was located at the corner of Spokane and Hiawatha Avenues.

An expansion was built in 1953, including an expanded chancel, offices and classroom. A parish hall was added in 1957.
