How is U.S. farm policy working? How can it be improved? The
ELCA Washington Office staff wants to know what YOU think!
BACKGROUND
The Farm Bill will come before the U.S. Congress for
reauthorization in 2007. To help shape ELCA advocacy efforts
around this bill, Mary
Minette and Andrew
Genszler from the ELCA
Washington Office want to hear Lutheran views on how U.S.
farm policy is working and how it could be improved.
Read the story on ELCA News.
HAVE YOUR SAY
The ELCA Washington Office staff are particularly interested in
your thoughts on these issues at the forefront of the farm
policy debate:
- Expanding access to healthy foods, increasing food
security, and ending hunger;
- Promoting good stewardship of farm and ranch land;
- Building strong rural communities and providing
opportunities for new farmers and ranchers;
- Developing new markets for farm products and encouraging
investment in new products such as renewable energy
- Reforming trade distorting subsidies that negatively
impact the economies and market access of developing
countries; and
- Changes in the distribution of limited farm bill
resources, including cuts to the commodities support program.
